Westside Stories Advent Podcast: Liz Griffith

So as I was reflecting on this big question, right, I thought of two truths that the Lord has shared with me and my journey with him. Number one, our entire life is one of waiting. That is what we are doing here on earth. And number two, waiting is not passive. It is an active, complex, exhausting verb. The culture that we live in now is so counterintuitive to what God tells us about waiting. Our entire consumer culture is built around instant gratification with the right products and the right people, and the right drive and willpower. You can and should get anything that you want to today. And yet what God has told me and shown me, and I think all of us is that, no, I want you to wait. I need you to wait.
I'm still with you and you might not get what you are waiting for in this life on earth for me, reconciliation, even being reunited with loved ones who have left this world, I'm waiting on that moment where I can be with my father again who died when I was 21 waiting on my mom, who due to mental, emotional health and limitations is not in our lives. And yet the older I get, the more I see that actually God might not bring that to fruition in this life on earth. And that ache, that groaning, that longing, that is our life on earth until he comes again.
