God is MOVING at PawKids! 🍑
In today’s Serve Saturday, LaTonya Gates shares a powerful story of the work God is doing at PawKids.
“I saw one of our PawKids who’s been with us since first grade. This year he was graduating. I asked, “What’s next?” He said, “College—but I had to go to the doctor.” During COVID, he was in the ICU twice with sickle cell. Very sick. Yet he came back the next day to work with us that Summer. We knew something was special about Nick— people said that He was anointed.
The next week he called: “Auntie, my mom put me out.” I said, “You have somewhere to go—my basement. Move in until college.” He stayed all summer, worked with me, and then we learned he’d gotten into Jackson State—but needed $10,000 more. I called my board: “We have to get this boy in.” On top of his health, I drove him to get shots done, and just watched God move.
He would be the first in his family to attend college. He had nothing. We called North Side, Trinity, Westside—people gave. Someone donated a trunk. We made an Amazon list. God provided! When we walked into his dorm—his own beautiful one-bedroom—the look on his face said it all. “I never thought I’d have a place like this.”
At 18, after witnessing death, and experiencing intense sickness, and devastating homelessness, he was thriving! Now he’s at Jackson State. We talk all the time about his love for Christ and where he wants to be. I can’t even put into words how fast God moved for this baby.”

🙏 Pray for LaTonya: To rest in faith, trusting that our big and faithful God will provide abundantly.
🙏 Pray for PawKids: For safety in our community and that we’d stay true to our values, while building a healthy community and staff.
👐 Ways to Give: If everyone just gave $5 a month, it would ease the load of fundraising and allow PawKids to focus more on loving people.
