Hello from Kyrgyzstan! The Westside Team is wrapping up our first full day with Word of Life Church and we’ve already seen and heard many examples of God’s love and power at work.

On our first night, Turkish Christians K and S shared with us their stories of coming out of Islam into faith in Jesus. We were able to get a small glimpse into their lives as single women in Kyrgyzstan.

Their challenges in ministry help us to understand, in some ways, the challenges felt by the Christian women in the Kyrgyz church. We’re looking forward to uniting with more women at the end of our trip. Our hope is for a time where the women can connect with one another in a way that might ease some of the difficulties they face - being Christians in a majority Muslim country, being women in a culture that doesn’t always value femininity, and for many, being single in a culture where marriage is expected. Some of them also face strained and painful family relationships because of their faith in Christ, and we hope to meditate with them on the beauty that God adopts us as his children, grafting us into a new family.

Please pray with us for the Holy Spirit to bind them together and to increase their understanding of the truth that God views them as beloved and that the family they have in one another (and the global Church!) can be a gift of comfort and strength from Him who loves us.
