Kids’ Camp in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan: Conor Vizon

Kids Camp started in Kyrgyzstan this week. I’d like to highlight a story of how God is moving in my life and in the hearts and minds of the kids at camp!
Reading, 1 Colossians 4:2-6, gets me so pumped! ”2 Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. 3 And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. 4 Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. 5 Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. 6 Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.”
God has opened the door for salvation through Jesus to flourish in Kyrgyzstan through these kids and teens camps. The way that the Holy Spirit is moving through these kids is simply incredible.
At Kids Camps, the kids learn Biblical stories through captivating videos with small group time afterwards to debrief. In these small groups, the kids from Muslim families come with many questions about these Bible stories, and most times, their Christian friends they’ve made in the camp, led by the Holy Spirit, are the ones who answer their questions! You can see the gears turning in the minds of these Muslim kids because these stories about Jesus make sense: Jesus loves me and my friends here love and trust Him so there must be some weight to these stories. These Kyrgyz Christian kids are doing exactly what Paul urges us to do in Colossians. They see God opening the door for the message, they proclaim the stories clearly to their Muslim friends so they can understand, and they make the most out of every opportunity to make a personal relationship with Jesus clear so their friends who do not believe in Christianity, can ask more questions and come to faith. It’s encouraging to see these kids from Kyrgyzstan evangelize SO easily when we tend to get in our heads about sharing the gospel as Americans.
Westside family - the Kyrgyzstan team would love if you would join us in prayer:
For Kids Camp July 7-12:
- That the Holy Spirit will continue moving through the hearts and minds of these kids and their parents who practice Islam and that they will put their faith in Jesus
- That kids here who feel alone at camp will know that Jesus loves and cares for them
- For strength for the Kyrgyz volunteers/our team as the days are incredible and fun but also exhausting!
Also, for Youth Retreat July 14-19:
- That the Holy Spirit can grant rest for the Kyrgyz youth who helped volunteer at kids’ camp and move through the conversations and experiences we will have
- That the Lord guides our team’s hand in facilitating this retreat since it is a completely new event for our group
- Safety as we talk about Jesus outside of the walls of a church in a predominantly Muslim country
- For youth to come to saving faith in Jesus
