Passage

Psalm 19

Sermon Summary

Oftentimes in our age of distraction and our busy urban lifestyles, we can miss the way in which God is communicating to us through His world and His word. Or maybe we just don't want to acknowledge and admit that we are not in charge of the universe. However, if we can slow down and humble ourselves, we will find that God is constantly proclaiming to us a message that tells of His glory and shows us our place in the redemptive story He is writing. To see and hear these messages we simply need to do two things...

Look Up! - Sit in awe of creation and listen for the echoes which tell us of the power, wisdom, and faithfulness of God. Whether it's the decorative dome of the night sky that sits over us or the beauty and brightness of the sun, God's creation is speaking to us all the time.

Look Down! - God has not left us with vague guesses at who He is and what He is up to in the world. He has graciously given us His Word in written form so that we could know specifics about His character and His plan of redemption. Not only this, but His word is our instruction to lead to ultimate delight in life. This culminates in the revelation of His Son, Jesus Christ, who came to reconcile us to this glorious God!

The question is not whether God is making Himself known, but rather are we looking and listening to His world and Word?
