Passage

Numbers 9:15-10:10

Sermon Summary

In one of the more obscure passages of the Bible—one that speaks about packing and unpacking bags—God reminds the traveling Israelites of His faithful presence. In many ways, this story captures our own daily journey in the world: life in the mundane. Even when we feel the burden or fear of doing the same things over and over again, we find that God’s faithful presence not only leads us through the ordinariness of life but also calls to us in the midst of it. This is often how God invites us into a deeper journey with Him.

Discussion Questions (choose any—you don't have to answer them all!)
  1. [Optional starter question] What stood out or stuck with you from the sermon?
  2. We often face the mundaneness of life. What challenges are you facing today that leave you wondering, Is this it?
  3. The sermon also addressed some of the fears we face in our mundane existence as a result. Can you identify with any of them? How do they affect you today?
  4. What hope do you gain from God’s faithful presence in the mundane? How does that motivate you as you begin your week on Monday morning?
  5. Some fears and struggles are not meant to be faced alone. Do you know about the resources our church provides, including Care Advisors, counselors, and pastoral care?
