Sunday Worship: Our Response to Coronavirus
In-person Sunday worship services are cancelled until further notice. Instead we will livestream a modified service, starting at our usual time of 10:30, on the video player above, YouTube and Facebook Live.
All other on-site events, including Friday night prayer, Saturday movie night, Emotionally Healthy Spirituality, the Premarital Class, and the Luke Bible study, are also on hold until further notice. Use discretion about whether to gather off-site in smaller numbers, and commit to practicing all CDC recommendations regardless.
COVID-19 is scary, but we are not scared. We belong to the sovereign Lord who holds all things in his mighty hands. We trust him not only to care for us, but to use us to care for others. This decision is not about fear, but about wise love for our neighbors. We don’t know what will happen next. We will continue to monitor the situation and will send communications as soon as further plans develop. In the meantime, please continue to pray for every precious person affected by this very serious crisis.
Our Savior has a longstanding habit of bringing great redemption out of great calamity. We are looking expectantly to see how he might do that here, and how he might use each of us in the process.
Our address is 1255 Collier Rd NW, Atlanta, GA 30318.
Parking for guests and young families is available onsite. We also have Sunday morning parking arrangements with the following businesses: Piece of Cake, Soiree, Craftsman, Contract Hardware, Upper Westside, and USA Storage. Parking Guides will direct you to the best parking space.
By public transit, MARTA bus route #37 (which operates from the Art Center station to Moore's Mill Center) stops on Defoor Ave at 1990 and at Glenn Ave, both of which are approximately a 7-8 minute walk from the church.
Nursery & Childcare
The mission of the Atlanta Westside Church nursery is to provide a safe, caring, and inviting environment for children; to ensure that their church times are joyful; and to provide a foundation for their developing faith. Nursery care is available for infants, toddlers, and children under four years during every Sunday morning worship service. The nursery runs from 8:45 AM - 10:20 AM and again from 10:45 AM - 12:20 PM.
This class is offered during our 11:00 AM service, for children aged four years old through first grade, and focused on training in the elements of worship. Children are released for their service just before the sermon begins and are brought back to observe the time of Communion afterwards. Those who choose to remain for the sermon are always welcome to sit with their parents throughout the adult service.
The Westside Youth Group, for all 5th-12th graders, hosts a Sunday school class from 9:00-10:15AM during the school year. Please contact Jason Kriaski, our Youth Pastor, to get involved.
Sunday School for children and adults is available from 9:00-10:15 AM during the school year with a break between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
There’s no single standard for what’s appropriate to wear, so use your own judgment. Most people don’t feel obligated to dress too formally, though some choose to, and others just wear whatever’s comfortable to them. Regardless, just remember that your presence is the main thing.
