What to Expect for Sunday's Service
On Sundays we have a simple Christian worship service with singing, praying, preaching, and communion — all explained for those unfamiliar with church, and none mandatory.
We start at 10:30 and aim to finish between 11:45 and 12:00.
To know exactly how our service is conducted, and why, please see Westside Worship 101.
Attire
There’s no single standard for what’s appropriate to wear, so use your own judgment. It’s not a black tie affair, but it’s not a cookout, either. Your presence is the main thing.
Music
Our music incorporates contemporary songs and traditional hymns.
Communion
We oberve the Lord's Supper at the end of every Sunday service, but participation is completely voluntary and only for those who desire to worship by taking the elements. In fact, we observe it in a way that alllows everyone to choose whether or not to participate by walking to either side of the room at any time during the songs we sing at the end of the service. We provide gluten-free bread as well as the option of drinking red wine, dipping the bread in wine, or non-alcoholic grape juice.
Nursery
Nursery is provided for the youngest kids, and we’ll have a children’s worship lesson for the “older” kids during the sermon.
The mission of the Atlanta Westside Church nursery is to provide a safe, caring, and inviting environment for children, to ensure that their church times are joyful, and to provide a foundation for their developing faith. Nursery care is available for infants, toddlers, and children under four years during every Sunday morning worship service. The nursery opens at 10:15 A.M.
The preschool class is for 2-3 year olds and includes a Bible story with an activity. The students are learning some of the questions and answers from the First Catechism for Children. The toddler class includes babies that crawl and/or walk and toddlers up to 2 years. This class meets on the 3rd floor. The baby class is for non-mobile babies and meets upstairs on the 2nd floor.
We always need new volunteers to serve in the nursery! We are also always in need of gently used toys, games, and puzzles.
