Strategist & Worship Leader
Jeff Heck and his wife, Hannah, were part of the launch team that planted Atlanta Westside in 2007. He began serving on staff part-time in 2016 and provides strategic oversight and support for Atlanta Westside, as well as leading worship. Jeff also serves as CEO of Monday Night Brewing, a craft brewery on the Westside that he co-founded with two other church members in 2011.
Jeff grew up in Cincinnati, OH before attending Harvard University. After graduating, he moved to Atlanta in 2003, where he spent 13 years working in mergers and acquisitions and private equity. Jeff and Hannah were married in 2004 and have three children – Teddy, Kenser, and Liza. Jeff is always up for a beer, a sing-along session, or building a medieval model village with his kids.
Kelly has been serving as an audio/visual specialist for worship services for over ten years. He began leading Atlanta Westside Church’s audio/visual team in the spring of 2015. He’s also written and produced songs for local musical artists.
Kelly grew up in Ellijay, GA and moved to the Atlanta area in 2004 to pursue a career as a tennis professional. He still pursues creative endeavors outside of music including writing and development for animation and television. He and his wife Leah met at AWPC. They love sharing their home and having a place where people are always welcome.
Youth Director & Pastoral Intern
Claude is the Youth Director & Pastoral Intern at Atlanta Westside. Prior to that, he built a youth ministry from meeting in a home to fully thriving in a suburban church and, since moving to Atlanta, has worked with urban youth with Walton Communities as their Teen Services Director. He’s also launched a blog where he creatively engages readers about various topics such as Christian living and racial reconciliation.
After graduating from Auburn University, Claude moved to Atlanta to begin working on his master’s degree at Reformed Theological Seminary. He met his wife, Azia, on the plains of Auburn and married her summer of 2015 in Atlanta. Claude loves a good cheeseburger, deep conversations, hip-hop, and witty humor and desires to author a few books, plant a transcultural church, and be a graphic designer when he grows up.
Children's Ministry Director
Christy Gyger is the Children’s Ministry Director at Atlanta Westside. Prior to joining AWPC, Christy was an operations analyst in Atlanta, and she has been attending Westside since 2012.
Christy grew up in Atlanta, and graduated from Georgia Tech in 2011 with a degree in business. After college, she was on staff with Campus Outreach for two years where she developed a passion for communicating the gospel in creative and personal ways. Christy has been working with children’s ministry since college, and has grown to love the creative challenge of communicating biblical truths to children in engaging and age-appropriate ways. Christy loves reading, gluten-free baking, and fantasy football.
Chris began serving Atlanta Westside in June 2015. Prior to his arrival, Chris helped plant Redeemer Church of Knoxville where he served on staff for over 11 years, the last 8 of which he was an associate pastor.
Growing up in a small South Carolina mill town, Chris attended the University of the Cumberlands in Kentucky and was trained for ministry at Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando. Chris and his wife Beth met in college and were married shortly after their graduation in the summer of ’95. They have three wonderful children: Emma, Kaley and Nathanael.

Women's Ministry Coordinator
Anne grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee. After graduating from UNC Chapel Hill with a degree in business, she served on staff with Campus Crusade for Christ (now Cru) at Vanderbilt. She married Walter in 1995; Abigail was born in 1996, and Emily in 1999. As a young mother she studied counseling at Westminster Seminary in Philadelphia, and has been ministering alongside Walter since moving to Atlanta in 2002. She has served multiple roles at Westside, most recently overseeing women’s ministry. Anne enjoys helping people grow as disciples of Christ by engaging Scripture with their hearts and minds. She is passionate about cultivating this growth in the context of relationships, connecting the story of Scripture with the stories that God is writing in each of our lives. Anne also serves as a Regional Network Leader for Parakaleo, an international ministry to church planting spouses.
After graduating from Florida State University, Valerie began her career as a Media Planner and has worked in a variety of office environments. More recently, she and her husband, Wade, lived abroad where they helped run a community center for the underprivileged in a populous area, which entailed many administrative duties, including recruiting volunteers – a big part of her job at Atlanta Westside. In addition, she taught English to both adult and children’s classes.
Valerie and Wade live in Clarkston, an area known for its refugee population, with whom they greatly enjoy interacting. Together, they love working on their new (to them) home and garden. Valerie also loves to scrapbook her many, many photos.
Walter Henegar is the senior pastor of Atlanta Westside, which he planted with a core group of friends in 2007. Prior to that, he was an Associate Pastor at Westside’s mother church, Christ Church Presbyterian.
Walter grew up in Chattanooga, TN, went to college in Chicago, and received his seminary training in Philadelphia. Before seminary, he worked in Nashville as a carpenter, a public relations executive, and a business writer. Walter and his wife, Anne, met as infants and have been married since 1995. They have two daughters, Abigail and Emily. He loves watching movies, discovering new music and playinga bit of mandolin as well.
